Computational Engineering at ICM
Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling
One year of study · Programme not completed
I studied for one year of the eighteen-month Computational Engineering programme at ICM, University of Warsaw. I chose to step away because of professional commitments; no degree was awarded.
ICM brings together mathematical and computational modelling with high-performance computing. Studying in that environment broadened my perspective on the relationship between a mathematical problem, its implementation and the computing resources needed to solve it.
What I took from it
- Machine learning: a stronger foundation for thinking about models and how computational methods support learning from data.
- Supercomputing: exposure to high-performance computing and the challenges of working beyond a single machine.
- Advanced mathematics: deeper mathematical reasoning and a more rigorous approach to modelling and problem-solving.
The combination helped me connect the mathematical side of ML with the systems perspective that matters when an idea has to run at scale.
